Welcome Back from Spring Break, Westbrook!! This last part of the year is always jam packed with activities and events in addition to state testing and more learning! It sure flies by and is so much fun! The first big event will be here before you know it and that is our Move a Thon! This is our big fundraiser for the year! Our goal is to bring in a lot of money to support our teachers and purchase some things our school is lacking. For example, we have wonderful outdoor space, but we have zero garbage cans. We would love to purchase some permanent garbage cans to add to campus. We would also love to give our teachers a small stipend to cover some of the things they have purchased on their own. Please help us make this event a huge success!!  The first thing you can do is send the 99 pledges email to everyone you know!! The more people you send it to, the higher the potential to get donations.  Move-A-Thon:  It is coming... the 1st Annual Westbrook Move-A-Thon and it is g...

Happy Sunday! We had a big week last week and we have another coming up! This is a busy time of year in the school world. Friday we held another clothing and toy swap. It was a huge success! Thank you to all of you who donated items, thank you to those of you who put in so much muscle and sweat to getting it ready and set up and thank you to those of you who came to the event. We had many people from the community take advantage who are not directly associated with Westbrook and that is our goal! We also had families we met through our Holiday Hopes and Wishes mailbox come and shop! That is what it is all about. We will continue holding clothing and toy swaps and our dream is that it continues to get bigger and bigger!  Our choir also had a very big week! We hosted the Roseville Community Band and our choir sang two songs. The band teacher at Chilton was the conductor and she said the Westbrook choir is by far the best youth choir she has ever heard! I already knew that, but...

Happy Sunday Families! On Friday, our Read Across America Week culminated with Jesse Bennett reading one of her books and a Read a Thon. The students covered our campus with books and blankets. My heart was full!! Every once and awhile, I have to remind myself that everything we do is the first time we have done it. If you saw this event, you would never believe it. It was just the way it should be! After Jesse read, she would not stop talking about how well behaved our students are and how involved our staff is. Let me tell you, those two things go hand in hand!  And if you watched the ROCKstar Report, you know that applicants were sharing how Westbrook is known around the district and that there are a lot of people talking about us. We are seen as innovators and trend setters. What a special place to be! It goes way beyond the staff at our school, people are also talking about our incredible parents and community. We are so fortunate to have one another and be in this toge...

Well, Hello March! I cannot believe March is upon us. The rest of the year is absolutely going to fly by. It is nuts! The kids have grown so much this year and made so many friends. It is going to be hard to part for summer, but I am not even going to think about that yet! There are too many things to do before we get there.  Read Across America Week: This is going to be a fun week. It is 'Read Across America Week' at Westbrook. We have dress up days and fun activities planned for the week. See the picture above for our dress up days. It is going to be a lot of fun!  Parenting Tips: One of the best things you can do for your child is to allow them to come up against a challenge and work through it. I know it may sound like I am repeating myself, but it is because we are seeing a trend in our students. Many of our students lack the coping skills to navigate through a tough situation. Of course, it is easier to avoid meltdowns and blow outs by preventing them for our ch...
