Sunday, February 4
Happy Rainy Sunday! I hope you are able to stay inside nice and warm and cozy. It is going to rain tomorrow, as well. I want you to know we understand this causes quite a back up at drop off in the morning. Here are a couple ways you can help:
1) Please pull all the way forward and wait to have your child get out until after the side walk cut out begins. We purchased some signs to support this visually, but it is very helpful if you wait to drop off your child until the end of the drop off line.
2) Please please please DO NOT get out of your car. We have people there to open the door and help your child get out.
3) Be patient and kind. We are all in this together.
Thank you!!
Speaking of rain, that means SNOW!! If you are anything like me, I honestly try to avoid trips to the snow because we have to purchase new gear for our kids every time!! And it is only for one or two trips to the snow each winter. To prove this point, see the picture above. That was the Brooks' one trip to the snow last year. We were on our way home from a lacrosse tournament in Tahoe and stopped to visit the lingering snow. No snow gear required. Ha!!
I don't think I am the only family who feels this way, but don't worry, our amazing PTC is here to help! They are taking on a winter gear check out program. Bring in the winter gear your children have outgrown and come check out the sizes your children need now! I went through my closets this weekend and have a big bag of goods to donate. And maybe the Brooks will actually take a real trip to the snow this year. If it happens, I will share a picture! See below for additional details.
Campus Safety: School safety is something we take very seriously. We have frequently had different safety drills ranging from an evacuation drill (fire) to a secure (dog on campus). On Friday, we had a lockdown drill. When we have this drill, the teachers ensure their doors are locked, blinds are closed and children are out of site. Mrs. Wright and I went around and checked every door on campus. We were able to do this in 10 minutes (and get a running work out in)! Again, I want to let you know how fortunate we are to be at a new school. There is no way you can see in these classrooms with the blinds down. The kids did a fabulous job of staying out of site and being quiet. The purpose of drills is to make it more comfortable if we ever had a real event.
Skate Night: We have skate night this Wednesday from 6-8pm. This time, we are going to have a competition. Wear your grade level shirts and the grade level with the largest turn out will get an extra recess on Friday, 2/9.
Online Merchandise Store: We have an online merchandise store and our new style sweatshirt is available. Our original style t-shirt and sweatshirt are there too. Take advantage and buy some gear! All orders will be delivered to Westbrook. No delivery fees. I absolutely LOVE seeing Westbrook gear in the wild! 😁
