Happy Sunday Families! It may seem strange, but now is when I start planning for the upcoming school year. Crazy right? And to think we haven't even finished our very first year. As I am planning, I am so excited about things to come. We had to remain focused as we opened this year and not spread our resources too thin. Well, we now have our feet under ourselves and are ready to take on some new things this Spring and next year. So exciting!! Stay tuned for some incredible things to come! New Events Coming: At our PTC meeting on Friday, we discussed some new events coming our way!  One is another Toy and Clothing Swap on March 15 from 4-7pm. We would love to have even more people take advantage of this opportunity! You can drop off donations from March 11-14 in the front office from 7:30am-3:30pm. Next up is the Move-a-Thon fundraiser on April 12. This will be a really fun event and we would love your help! See below for how to sign up.  Then, we are going to have a Fi...

Happy Monday Westbrook! I hope you had a great weekend. Westbrook's weekend got started in the best way with our participation in West Park High School's Unified Sports event on Friday. At this event, our FSP (Functional Skills Program) students got to play a game of kick ball on the West Park field. If you haven't seen their field, being able to play on it is something special in itself. There was even an announcer and a referee! Not to mention, all sorts of high school students there to help as well!  Many of you are probably asking, what is Unified Sports? It is a  program that empowers individuals with and without intellectual disabilities to engage through the power of sports.  It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding. This definitely aligns with the Westbrook Way. Another thing that made this event special was that we were the only elementary school to do this. We hope to pav...

Happy Super Bowl Sunday! You know what is fun about the Super Bowl? It is a game that truly brings everyone together because there is something for everyone. If you don't care about football, or which team wins, you can show up for Usher at half-time, all of the great commercials, the amazing snacks or even Taylor Swift😂 (That last part is so funny to me.) The point is, today is a day to enjoy time with those around you and make what you want of it. Maybe your favorite snacks and a half-time dance party are exactly what you need. Or you may be a die hard Niners fan and yelling at the TV is what you need. Whatever it is, do it and enjoy every moment! Also, enjoy the day off after!  February is Black History Month: One of our amazing parents decorated campus with facts and achievements of Black leaders. The children are encouraged to write down some facts to be included in a drawing each week. Here is a note from the parent:  "Happy Black History Month! You've probably ...

Happy Rainy Sunday! I hope you are able to stay inside nice and warm and cozy. It is going to rain tomorrow, as well. I want you to know we understand this causes quite a back up at drop off in the morning. Here are a couple ways you can help: 1) Please pull all the way forward and wait to have your child get out until after the side walk cut out begins. We purchased some signs to support this visually, but it is very helpful if you wait to drop off your child until the end of the drop off line.  2) Please please please DO NOT get out of your car. We have people there to open the door and help your child get out.  3) Be patient and kind. We are all in this together.  Thank you!!  Speaking of rain, that means SNOW!! If you are anything like me, I honestly try to avoid trips to the snow because we have to purchase new gear for our kids every time!! And it is only for one or two trips to the snow each winter. To prove this point, see the picture above. That was t...
