Happy Halloween from the Westbrook staff!! Thank you to all of you that came along with us on our costume parade, helped out with classroom activities, and sorted shirts! I say it time and time again, but the love and support from our community is like no other.  I took a couple of trips into the 'wild' this weekend. One was to the craft fair at John. L Sullivan Park and the other was a walk through the Winding Creek neighborhood. In both places, I saw so many families and kids!! I love that there are so many children in these neighborhoods and that they spend so much time together. It really shows what a community we are and I feel lucky to be a part of it!  Reminder: No school on Monday and Tuesday! The teachers will be busy learning, but I hope the children will be getting some extra rest! We will see you Wednesday, 11/1. You may want to set an alarm for pick up. That is a Wednesday, so the students are released at 12:42pm. I tend to forget those things after a long...

Happy Sunday Westbrook! I am sitting here reflecting on our amazing Friday evening. It was absolutely incredible. I don't know where to begin. We had so many people from the community both participate and come to our festival. That is truly what it is about. Our trunks were the best in town, I have no doubt. We had sprinklers in our Pumpkin Patch! (Just so you know, I thought I had them turned off😂) There were also so many people there to help from beginning to end. Toward the end of the event, I walked to the front of the school to help clean up and almost everything was done. I could not believe it! All we hope is that all of you had a positive and memorable experience. Westbrook has an amazing community and is a great place to be!  A HUGE thank you to the crew that worked tirelessly to make it happen! Traci Davis, Lauren Tameguia, Whitney Ignacio and Tahnee Hodge. I know there are many more of you who helped, but the list would go on forever! Together we were able to acc...

Hello Families! Tomorrow is picture day. Students will go with their class and take their pictures. It will be a fun day and these cute pictures will be in our first yearbook!  Friday is the BIG day! It is our first Fall Festival! There will be a pumpkin patch, games, the trunk or treat, and more! Kids are encouraged to wear their costumes. Use the QR code below to purchase your entrance.  The Fall Festival is $5 now and will be $8 at the door.   Candy Donations Needed: Speaking of the Fall Festival, we could really use some more candy donations for the Trunk or Treat. Based on pst experience, the kids' favorite part of this event will be getting candy at the Trunk of Treat! We will need LOTS of candy!! Art Class: Playful Minds is offering an art class after school at Westbrook. Go to their website to register: www.playfulmindacademy.com   We are trying to add additional after school enrichment opportunities.  Dates to Remember:  October 16- Pictur...

Happy Sunday Families! Please let me know when you are sick of me gushing about Westbrook, but seriously, I can't stop. When I think about this last week, I smile. It was just an average week but so many great things were happening. I posted one of our classes singing the amazing song Mr. Marmorstein taught them; We had Walk to School Day with so much excitement and participation; Friday began with another excellent Flag Salute in the morning; Jason Perrone came and read in some classes and it ended with buddy classes reading. I mean, come on, it does not get better than this. Throughout the entire week, we had many volunteers coming to work in classrooms and more coming at lunch. I want you to know that we all feel your support and appreciate it so much. It is true: Westbrook Wolverines ROCK!!  Resilience: I talked about resilience in my ROCKstar report and want to include a bit more in my blog. In my opinion, the most important thing we can teach children is how to overco...

I don't know about you, but some months feel like a week and some weeks feel like a month. For example, last week felt like a month but September felt like a week. No joke! And here we are in October. In all honesty, it feels kind of surreal. I say that because there was so much build up and effort put into the opening of Westbrook. We did not really have time to think about what September, October or November would look like. I will tell you what it looks like, it looks pretty awesome and likely better than we could have imagined. I knew we had a incredible staff, but we had no idea we would have such a supportive, positive and amazing community. And our Solaire neighbors across the street cannot wait to come over to Westbrook to work with our students. With all of this support, we will be able to help our students learn and grow like never before! It is so much fun to be a part of it all!  We recognized our Organized students at an assembly on Friday. The students were so respect...
