Happy Sunday! If you were at my initial Westbrook community meeting in January last year, you know teaching our students to be resilient is very important to me. My goal is that when our students leave Westbrook, they have the skills to overcome challenges and to bounce back after failure. On Friday, we recognized our second group of Resilient students and it was so fun to see their pride and excitement. We also recognized another group of resilient students and those were our student who achieved reclassification. When a student achieves reclassification it means is they have acquired sufficient English language fluency to perform successfully in core academic subjects. This is something these students should be very proud of because they have definitely persevered and overcome challenges to reach this milestone.  Speaking of resilience, I want to share a funny story. Last Thursday, my family was at the dinner table and Joelle and I were talking about the upcoming assembly ...

Happy Sunday and Congrats to all of my Niners Fans out there! I am bummed we did not pull of the upset but it was a great game. The Packers made some big mistakes at the wrong time, but that goes to show you, we all make mistakes even if we are paid an astronomical amount of money😂 I have to say, I loved so much of the game. I loved (and hated) how close it was. I loved the history of Shanahan and LaFleur. I also enjoyed hearing how the coaches trusted their young quarterbacks. It was a good one and that is all I have to say! Are any of your children working on a Westbrook yearbook cover with a picture of Jordan Love and our theme 'And our story begins...'? Haha!! I couldn't help myself!  Ok, enough of that! Onto the actually important business.  Yearbook cover contest extended to Friday, 1/26. Create a cover and turn it in to your teacher or the office. All submissions will be included in the yearbook whether yours is chosen or not! Such a fun way to be a special part...

Happy Wildcard Weekend!! If there was ever a moment when you doubted whether or not the Brooks were true Packer fans, we cleared up any doubt today. We also provided many smiles for our fellow shoppers. I told my son I want him to wear this more often because everyone got such a kick out of it. The game is on right now, so there is a lot of excitement (and yelling) in our household. Eeek.  In more relevant news, we had a great week back at Westbrook. The kids were so excited to see their friends and teachers. It warms my heart to see so much joy at school. In addition, he teachers did not waste any time getting right back to where they left off. I was able to see so much learning and engagement, too!! There is nothing better!  I do have a lot of things to share with you today!  We are busy creating our FIRST Westbrook Yearbook! It is so exciting! The best part is we are having a cover contest where our students get to create the first cover. Please see above for th...

Happy New Year, Westbrook!! Are any of you excited to send your children back to school?? Haha! I am joking, but there is a hint of truth. Children do thrive with consistency and sometimes breaks are tough because the schedule is out . Regardless, we are so excited to have the children back and to see them tomorrow . Just like I mentioned after Thanksgiving Break, coming back is tough. They may say they do not want to come. They will definitely say they are too tired and will probably complain of a stomach ache. Bring them anyway!! Once they get to school, they will forget their worries and jump in! We are ready to love them!!  The new year often brings New Year's Resolutions and all of that fun, but for me, this new year represents so much more than that. Last year, on January 11, I had my interview to be the principal of Westbrook Elementary. Clearly, I got the job (Ha!), but in reflection, my 2023 was dedicated to Westbrook. Was it a lot of work? Heck ya!! But, I have lov...
