This is something I say too often, but it is true!! I believe things are going so well at Westbrook because we are all working together. There were two big examples this week. The first was in response to a post I made about arrival time in the morning. We have been having a rush of cars arrive at 7:40ish each day and students should be in their seats by 7:40. The next day, almost all students were on time! It was amazing. Let's keep it up this week.

The other example was our PTC meeting on Friday afternoon. Rarely do you see so many parents, and even neighbors, at a PTC meeting ready to support the students and school. I was not surprised, but still thrilled! We are going to do amazing things at Westbrook.

Speaking of arrival time, beginning tomorrow, the gates will be closing at 7:40am in the morning. Any students arriving after the gate closes, will need to go through the office. Thank you for your cooperation!

Skate Night: Our first skate night is Sept. 27th. Yay! The form is coming home, if it has not already. There is a waiver attached to the flier that you will need to bring with you to skate night. It will be $10 at the door and will be a GLOW theme. So fun!
You can also fill out the waiver digitally. If you do it digitally, you will have to fill out a form for each skate night because we cannot alter it to include all of our skate night dates. The digital waiver is here:

Voluntary Activity Waiver Release & Indemnity Agreement (Westbrook)

One our our amazing teachers and her staff were the spotlight in one of our district communications this week. They definitely chose a ROCKstar program to highlight, that is for sure!!

ESSential Staff Spotlight: Kim Butler, FSP Teacher at Westbrook

Kim Butler, Functional Skills Program teacher, and her team at Westbrook- Cheryl, Maria, Mary, Shana, Marci, and Sarah, have rocked the start of the school year at a brand new school! They have a classroom community that is built on structure, routine, and teamwork, where they are supportive of each other as they navigate through any challenges that come their way. They are truly out-of-the-box thinkers and try a variety of techniques for their students when they need extra support. Kim has worked hard with her team to create a schedule that includes opportunities for mainstreaming with general education peers in a variety of settings. Recently, she started a lunchroom initiative using visual supports for inclusivity and accountability for all students in TK and Kinder. We are excited to see how that grows! Thank you all for the fantastic work you do for our students every day!

Spirit Wear: The forms should be coming home, if they haven't already. I also attached them to my email. There is a QR code to pay online, but we would still like the forms turned in to help keep track of orders. You can order multiple grade level shirts on the same form for multiple children. We would love for every student to have a shirt, so please let me know if you could use some help to cover the cost of the shirt. I will be the only person to know. Don't hesitate to ask!
We cannot wait to see the students in their grade level shirts.

Crossing Guard Opportunities: I work very closely with the city to monitor traffic and intersections. The process takes a bit, but they do recognize our need and are being very generous. Especially with Westbrook connecting to Riego soon! In order to provide the safety we need at intersections, we need crossing guards to help. They are hard to find! If you are interested or know someone who may be, here is the application:
