Sunday, September 10

This was a great week. It started with the high school football players coming on Tuesday morning. They will be coming every other Tuesday and I know our kids will be excited. Soon, we will have a Westbrook night at a West Park football game. I will share those details when we have them ready!

In addition to the football players, we had more book donations come in. The local Balance Family Chiropractic business donated a bunch of books and backpacks and Heritage Solaire donated over 100 brand new books to our library. I honestly do not have words to express our gratitude for the outpouring of support for Westbrook. All I know is that we are one fortunate school!!

Enhancing Communication with the Google Translate Extension

At Westbrook, we utilize Google Workspace for Education, an all-inclusive platform that provides a range of tools and applications designed to enhance the educational experience. To facilitate effective communication in multiple languages, we would like to offer the Google Translate extension.

If you have questions about what information is disclosed by using the Google Translate extension, please take a moment to review the extension Privacy Practices. If you prefer not to have the District activate the Google Translate extension for your student’s account, please follow the steps below on or before September 22, 2023.

  1. Access the PowerSchool Parent Portal in your web browser.

If you need assistance with your login credentials, please contact your student's school office,

and they will gladly assist you with logging in.

  1. After logging in, follow these steps:

    1. Navigate to the left-side menu.

    2. Locate the "Google Translate Preference" menu option.

    3. Choose "Opt-Out" of the Google Translate extension added to your student's account.

    4. Submit the page.

  2. Repeat these steps for all your students within the Roseville City School District.

Crossing Guard Opportunities: I work very closely with the city to monitor traffic and intersections. The process takes a bit, but they do recognize our need and are being very generous. Especially with Westbrook connecting to Riego soon! In order to provide the safety we need at intersections, we need crossing guards to help. They are hard to find! If you are interested or know someone who may be, here is the application:
Crossing Guard Application

Active4Me: Active4Me is a program to encourage walking and riding to school. Every Thursday, we will scan walkers and riders at each gate. There is an app and kids can monitor their distance. A flier will be coming home with students. The students should receive their tags with bar codes this week. We will offer incentives as we get more comfortable with the program.
We could use parent volunteers at each gate to help with scanning students.
Please let me know if you are interested in volunteering to scan.

You can log in here to enter your student information: Active4Me

Room Parents/Art Docents Needed: Many classes are without a room parent or art docent. These are great ways to get involved with your child's class. As a room parent, you mostly have to share information and coordinate volunteers for events. So, you may not be able to be present at events or help during the day, but you can help by making sure classroom events are covered and information is shared. I will likely be the room parent for my daughter's class and if I can do it, you can do it!! Trust me!!
As an Art Docent, you and other volunteers come lead an art project in the classroom. You do not have to come up with the project, they are all provided for you. The commitment is minimal but the impact is HUGE!!

Lost and Found: Our lost and found is now organized and easy to see. Please claim your missing items! It is out in front of the school throughout the day.

Spirit Wear: Spirit Wear order forms are coming home soon! The first form will be for grade level shirts in the grade level color and the blue Westbrook shirts. I know that many of you do not have a shirt yet and we want you to get them! Keep an eye out. Next, we will have sweatshirts to order!! Yay! We are working on lots of fun merch. (That is what the cool kids say😉)
